Pratt St. at 216 Emory St., comprises four adjoining row houses, including the birthplace of the "Sultan of Swat." The museum contains numerous photographs, paintings and memorabilia associated with Babe Ruth. The furnishings are from the late 1800s. Film clips of Ruth's life are shown. Pratt St. The 40-acre indoor/outdoor museum's extensive collection of locomotives, both originals and replicas, dates from 1829. In addition to examples of many types of engines, the museum contains railroad china and silver, outdoor train exhibition platforms, and an exhibit on railroad time and time pieces. The shops that once surrounded the station built thousands of cars and engines and were known as "The Railroad University." The station's focal point is the roundhouse dome covering a wooden turntable surrounded by 22 stalls that contain cars and locomotives. Train rides and a tour of the restoration facility also are available. Food is available. Allow 2 hours, 30 minutes minimum.

The Baltimore Civil War Museum 601 President St. Baltimore MD 21202 USA Phone: (410) 385-5188 The Baltimore Civil War Museum, 601 President St., tells the story of the first bloodshed of the Civil War that occurred in April 1861 as the Sixth Massachusetts Volunteer Militia Regiment was attacked by Southern sympathizers; five soldiers and 11 civilians were killed. The station's role in the Underground Railroad and Maryland's role as a border state in the Civil War are featured. Allow 1 hour minimum.

In addition to a farmhouse furnished in period and a barn containing old farm tools, there are 16 other buildings, nature trails and a pond. Fells Point Maritime Museum 1724 Thames St. Baltimore MD 21231 USA Phone: (410) 732-0278 Fells Point Maritime Museum is at 1724 Thames St. Baltimore's maritime history is chronicled through ship models, paintings, exhibits about ships and a brief film detailing the area's maritime significance. The 1859 building housed a horse-drawn trolley line and later served as a rope warehouse, which is when the freight elevator capable of carrying up to 2,000 pounds was installed.
